Silent film concert. Cinemateket presents Victor Sjöström’s The Phantom Carriage from 1921 –  the best from the golden age of Swedish silent film. It is based on a short story by Selma Lagerlöf and is accompanied by a trio conducted by composer and Guldbagge award winner Matti Bye.

The Phantom Carriage by Victor Sjöström, Swedish, 1921, with Victor Sjöström and Hilda Borgström. 106', Swedish intertitles. Remorseful alcoholic is forced to watch his ruined life pass before him in this masterpiece with Julius Jaenzon behind the camera. New tinted copy.

Matti Bye composed the music for The Phantom Carriage in 1998. This is a new adaptation for a trio.
