Ingmar Bergman directed almost fifty radio drama productions from the mid-forties to the beginning of the 21st century. Some of his most memorable and enjoyable productions will be broadcasted during the Festival including the legendary, frequently requested Vox Humana by Jean Cocteau from 1951, August Strindberg’s Påsk with Anders Ekblad from 1952, Porträtt av en Madonna with Inga Tidblad from 1956, his own En själslig angelägenhet with Jane Friedmann from 1990 and August Strindberg’s Pelikanen with Jonas Malmsjö and Maria Bonnevie from 2003.
We will also be hearing radio interviews – often pared down, intimate and intense – with Ingmar Bergman talking about his productions. Each performance will be preceded by an introduction describing the practical work in the recording studio.
You will also get the opportunity to listen to the Swedish Radio P1 Sommar broadcast with Ingmar Bergman.
